Planetary Market

Sunair was once a desolate wasteland, it's original name forgotten, it's atmosphere and environment long ago destroyed by too much polution from the now extinct inhabitants. Anyone and everyone who passed the planet simply ignored it, assuming it was simply uninhabitable. Resource scans were never able to penetrate the thick toxic atmosphere, and any ship trying to touch down on the planet quickly found out how corrosive the air was. The air would breach most ships in 30 minutes or less, certainly not enough time for in-depth analysis of anything. Word eventually spread that Sunair was devoid of any value. However, word of Sunair one day reached the ears of a space-faring race of people who for centuries had worked towards claiming a planet for their own. All the planets they had searched before were either occupied or was beyond their means to terra-form. Sunair however, was at one time alive. It would be far easier for them to revive a planet, than it would be to give life to a planet.

So they left to see what could be done with the planet. Upon arriving they decided they liked the challenge the planet presented and felt if they could breath life back into it, it would be a place worthy of the name Sunair-"Home of the People" in their native language. They fitted a large ship with extra layers of their strongest metal. The plan was to crash the ship into the ground, burying it as deep as possible. Another ship would fly down, dock with the crashed ship, unload all the personnel and equipment required, and then retreat. The armored ship would last three hours minimum and five hours maximum. They planned for two and a half. During that time they burrowed into the ground, 500 and some people digging, sealing, and reinforcing. The armored ship was breached in three hours and 20 minutes. By then they were breaking for lunch in the underground common room.

230 years later, they broke through the surface for their first breath of fresh, new, air. They had succeeded. They had brought the planet back to life. After traveling through space for centuries looking for a home, they had not only found one, but they had made it their own. Some 800 years later, Sunair is a planet with a thriving economy, a polite population, and technologically equivalent to the rest of the galaxy. Sunair is also considered the jewel of the galaxy, with it's mighty Rainforest of Dreams and beautiful Garden City. The planet is one of the larger planets in the galaxy, and due to it appeal, it has a high population, with a fair 12% of that population being retirees.

Sunairia is the planetary capitol. Hallowed Temple is both a building and a city. The Hallowed Temple was built on the original landing site, and the city is located beneath the temple, being the original underground city built centuries past.
